Rihanna, Thirty Seconds to Mars Among New MTV O Music Awards Write-In Nominees (Exclusive)

The O Music Awards have yet to be officially doled out, but Thirty Seconds to Mars, Rihanna, Neon Hitch and Radiohead already have plenty of fan support on their side.
The artists are among the freshly minted write-in nominees for this summer’s third cycle of the OMAs, which also includes Spotify developer Andrea Blixt, South Korean boy band Super Junior, ex-Google employee and current rapper Hoodie Allen, the music app Rdio and Israeli producer/songwriter J.Viewz. In less than one week of fan voting, the OMAs have already notched more than 3 million votes and are on track to best the record 22.3 million votes of last October’s event. In its first cycle, held in April of 2011, the OMAs only recorded 3 million votes in total.

Who else do you know that can say they've been photographed in a fur stole by the infamous Terry Richardson, dressed as an Urban Cowboy, caught a b-ball game with David Beckham and got snapped in a sailor sandwich...all within in a month? We'll answer that for you: No one. The Thirty Seconds To Mars singer continues his venture as the REAL Most Interesting Man In The World (take that, Mr. Dos Equis) by posing with some servicemen on the streets of NYC during Fleet Week. He shared the pic on his always-entertaining blog, Notes From The Outernet. For those who don't know about Fleet Week, it's an annual event when sailors dock in the Big Apple for a week and run the streets, causing some ladies to lose their ish. We had a fun visit last night from actor/musician/artist/tech evangelist/cowboy hat evangelist Jared Leto, one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business.

People know Jared from movies (Requiem for a Dream, Prefontaine, Panic Room) and TV (My So-Called Life), and then more recently from his shift into music. His band 30 Seconds to Mars won an MTV Video Music Award for the song Kings & Queens.

Jared Leto has a posse. In fact, they're so loyal they make him seem like a cult leader. There's the million or so who remember him as the actor in Fight Club, Requiem For A Dream, or even My So Called Life, way back when. A few million more know him as a bona fide rock star, the singer/guitarist in Thirty Seconds To Mars. To us, he's an innovator.

Having reinvented himself a few dozen times, he clearly feels the occasional need to destroy something beautiful. And it's his knack for creative destruction that earned him a spot as one of our 100 Most Creative People 2012. He joins us today to talk about the three businesses he's hatched, all of which have a shot at shaking up entertainment as we know it. The One & Only Golden Tickets is a Willy Wonka approach to online concerts, offering all access to digital VIPs. His digital ticketing business, VyRT, is the more like the general admission component--don't call either sophisticated service "streaming," though. On the artist side, he's forged The Hive, a powerful social media consultancy based on best practices he picked up with his own band and their rabid social followers.
